Refurbishments

This is at the heart of what I do. Turning a derelict or tired room into a beautiful, functional space is the best motivation. Ripping off old wallpaper to find crumbling, cracked and ancient plaster is no deterrent for me, but rather an opportunity to create something beautiful.

Sound proofing

Soundproofing can really make a difference, whether its just applying a rubber backed sound board with very little disruption or to build a false wall/ceiling to tackle that impact noise. I’d be happy to give you some plans of action to help you with a quieter nights sleep.

Rendering

Whether you have internal blown walls that need rendering and skimming, external walls that need traditional sand and cement rendering or you wish to go for one of the many new silicone render systems that do not require painting and any of the maintenance that traditional sand and cement renders may require, I can help you with that.

Skimming

Skimming in plastering is a crucial technique for achieving smooth and flawless wall or ceiling surfaces. It involves applying a thin layer of finishing plaster to cover imperfections, prepare for painting or wallpapering, or refresh existing walls. Skimming creates a clean and polished look, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of interior spaces. This versatile method is ideal for both new construction and renovation projects. With proper skimming, you can achieve professional results that elevate the overall appearance of your home or commercial property. I always skim with two coats of plaster for a stronger finish.

Artex Removal

Artex has become a thing of the past and now dealing with artex is a big part of my job. Either using the method of overboarding the ceiling or covering the the ceiling using bonding, and finally skimming it with 2 coats of skim for a perfect finish. It will be like having a brand new ceiling.

Painting and Decorating

After I’ve finished with all the plasterwork, I can paint it too. Saving you time and effort trying to find a decorator, giving you more time to relax.

Patch Repairs

Patch repairs involve fixing damaged areas of plaster, such as cracks, holes, or dents. Skilled plasterers can assess the extent of the damage and apply appropriate repair techniques, ensuring seamless integration with the surrounding surface, keeping the job small and cost effective.

Overboarding

Overboarding is the process of covering existing ceiling or wall surfaces with plasterboard before applying a new layer of plaster. This technique is commonly used when the existing surface is in poor condition, uneven, or unsuitable for direct plastering. For example Overboarding a lath and plaster ceiling is preferable to taking the full ceiling down because it saves time, labor, and costs. Overboarding involves fixing plasterboard directly onto the existing ceiling joists, providing a stable base for plastering without the need to remove the entire ceiling.

Insulating a property

Insulating an internal wall involves enhancing the thermal efficiency and soundproofing of a building by adding insulation material between the wall studs or directly on the existing wall. This process helps regulate indoor temperatures, reduce energy costs, and improve acoustic comfort within the space.

To insulate an internal wall, insulation material such as fibreglass Rockwool, PIR boards or insulated plasterboard can be fitted in between the stud work or directly on the wall. Once the insulation is in place, plasterboard sheets are fixed over the studs using screws or if insulated plasterboard has been used, we can skim directly on to the plasterboard.
